With logo design sometimes the best idea, the most marketable, the one which would work best for the business is often rejected in favour of being simple and safe.
It’s human nature to stick to what you know and to be honest sometimes to play it safe with design can be the best idea :
- There’s less risk
- Its tried and tested
- Visually it’s familiar
On the flipside playing it safe with design can display a lack of innovation and limit potential. There is of course the danger of being extremely original and disengaging your audience but if you get the balance right it reveals:
- A unique identity
- Something new
- A likeable image
Being safe is reducing risk but being original is impressive. People like new things as well as tried and tested.
Did you play it safe when you had your logo designed? If so, why?
