Logo Design is nothing new. Since the beginning of time people have used words, symbols and pictures ie.logo design and graphic design to encode messages whether it be secretly, subliminally or publicly but unless you’re a programmer, historian or detective I guess there’s not much need for deciphering logo design in today’s world, or is there?
What is a brand identity?
Think of it as your brand in a visual form or at the most basic level, anything with your logo on it. From your business cards to the giant sign on an office building, they’re all elements which compose your brand identity.
It’s also known as corporate identity design but as a brand identity design studio we create dozens of logo designs in Essex and I work with businesses of all sizes and I don’t like the term corporate identity as it suggests that only corporate companies should have one. That’s not true.
I come into contact with many businesses who want marketing advice for startups. They look for startup marketing startegies simply because they’ve never done it before. After many a chat I find that there’s a common misconception held not just by start ups but newbies to marketing in general. The misconception is that a little time, effort and investment will give them the marketing results that they need but in reality you need quite a bit of each for marketing to pay off.
I run a brand identity design company and sometimes I find that a start-up will get hypnotised with the idea of branding, putting all the focus on how catchy the name should be and how cool the logo should look. The idea of a brand is aesthetically approached rather then authentically. No thought is given to the brand story or brand tone of voice.
I’m a Brand Design Expert running a small brand studio in Essex and I meet startup brands of all sorts, all the time. What I find is that startup brands or even established business tend to get the wrong idea about branding and quite frankly I don’t blame them because the words brand, branding and brand identity get thrown about all the time as marketing ploys.
